Janae Jacobsen, Certified Family Nurse Practitioner
Jacobson Janae

Janae Jacobsen began her employment with Ä¢¹½´«Ã½ Student Health Clinic in 2012.

She earned her Bachelor of Science in nursing from SDSU and received her Master of Science in nursing in the family nurse practitioner specialty from SDSU in 2012.

Jacobsen has worked in the healthcare field for over 14 years. She is board certified through and a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.

April Schneider, Certified Family Nurse Practitioner
Schneider April

April Schneider began her employment with Ä¢¹½´«Ã½ Student Health Clinic in fall 2021.

She earned her Bachelor of Science in nursing from SDSU and received her Master of Science in nursing in the family nurse practitioner specialty from SDSU in 2018.

Schneider has worked in the healthcare field for over 24 years. She is board certified through and a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.

Her hobbies include organizing, spending time with family and cooking.

Walk-in flu shots are also available during regular clinic hours. Check with your insurance for flu shot coverage. Call 605-688-4157 with any questions.

Who can use the clinic?

All enrolled students are eligible to use the Student Health Clinic.

How do I make an appointment?

Call the clinic at 605-688-4157 or schedule online through the student portal on MyState.

What are your hours?
  • Monday: 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
  • Tuesday-Friday: 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

The clinic is closed on Saturday, Sunday and whenever the university is closed.

Can I walk in without an appointment?

Yes. Walk-ins are accepted for select services and urgent concerns; however, appointments are recommended to reduce wait times.

How much does it cost?

Health services costs are variable according to medical services provided. We will submit claims to your insurance if you provide policy information. You are responsible for any costs not covered by your insurance.

What services are offered?

We provide illness and injury care, preventive services, sexual health care, physicals, allergy injection administration (per your allergist orders), vaccinations and more.

Can I get prescriptions?

Yes. Our providers can prescribe medications and send them to your preferred pharmacy.

Can I get a doctor's note?

Yes. Documentation can be provided when appropriate for class, work or other needs.

Is my information confidential?

Yes. Your health information is private and protected by law.

Do I need insurance?

We will submit claims to your insurance provider; however, coverage and payment are determined by your insurance plan. We accept self-payments.

What should I do in an emergency?

Call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room. The Student Health Clinic is not an emergency facility.

What if I need care after hours?

For care outside clinic hours, use nurse advice lines, visit an urgent care center or go to the nearest emergency room.

Can international students use services?

Yes. All enrolled students, including international students, may use our services.

Can I access my health information online?

You can request your health records to be sent through the secure student patient portal.

When to use the emergency room?

  • Concern for fracture/broken bone
  • Convulsions, seizures or loss of consciousness
  • Heavy, uncontrollable bleeding
  • Moderate to severe burns
  • Poisoning
  • Pregnancy-related problems
  • Serious head, neck or back injury
  • Severe abdominal pain
  • Severe chest pain or difficulty breathing
  • Heart attack symptoms, such as chest pain
  • Stroke symptoms, such as vision loss, sudden numbness, weakness, slurred speech or confusion
