Goldwater Scholarship Award Recipients
Mason Pulse of Salem is a double major in math and physics and has become only the 12th Ä¢¹½´«Ã½ student to be selected as a Goldwater Scholar.
Pulse has a 4.0 GPA at SDSU, been on the dean’s list throughout college, is a Fishback Honors College student, has co-authored multiple research publications and has given presentations at area symposiums as well as at the American Physical Society meeting in March 2025.
Timothy Paris is pursuing an M.D. and Ph.D. in organic chemistry, with an emphasis on therapeutic drug design. He aspires to developing and administering novel medicine in a clinical research setting and hopes to mentor developing scientists
Paris is triple-majoring in chemistry, biochemistry and psychology. A native of Rapid City, Paris came to SDSU on a baseball scholarship and spent the 2018 season with the Jackrabbits. However, an introduction to undergraduate research led him to step away from the sport and go full speed into research
Jace Waybright is pursuing a Ph.D in condensed matter physics. He conducts research on magnetic materials with applications in spintronic devices and teaches at the university level.
Jace Waybright is an honors student majoring in physics and mathematics from SDSU and is originally from Lincoln, Nebraska.

During his time at SDSU, Ihab Halaweish was active in both academic research and campus life.
Ä¢¹½´«Ã½ Focus: He contributed to scientific literature early on, notably co-authoring a paper on the generation of constructs to study viral pathogenesis in bovine herpesvirus-1 (BHV-1).
