Aquatic Invertebrate Collection

  • The Department of Natural Resource Management oversees this collection, which houses more than 10,000 specimens. Professor and U.S. Geological Survey unit leader Steve Chipps is currently responsible for curating the collection.

Bird Collection

  • The Department of Natural Resource Management oversees this collection with specimens from as early as the 1890s. There are about 1,200 bird specimens and an additional approximately 1,200 egg, wing and skull specimens of which some are also used for teaching. Assistant professor Christy Wails is responsible for overseeing the collection.

Fish Collection

  • The Department of Natural Resource Management oversees this collection, including many older specimens from the 1950s. The number of specimens is around 7,000 and some specimens are also used for teaching. Assistant professor Christopher Cheek oversees the curatorial duties of the collection.
  • The department also maintains the NRM Fisheries Teaching Collection, which is composed of around 180 specimens, some with code numbers indicating they belong to the larger fish collection. Instructor Riley Mounsdon curates and manages this collection.

Faculty Curator

Herbaria

  • Department of Natural Resource Management oversees both C.A. Taylor Ä¢¹½´«Ã½ Herbarium and Student Herbarium. The Taylor Herbarium was established in 1881 and hold approximately 60,000 vouchered plant specimens. The separate Student Herbarium consists of approximately 20,000 vouchered specimens and is managed independently from the research collections of the C.A. Taylor Herbarium. Assistant professor Katie Wenzell is responsible for the curation of both herbaria.

Mammal Collection

  • The Department of Natural Resource Management oversees this collection, including many older specimens from the 1950s. The research collection is composed of approximately 2,100 research-grade specimens and the Mammal Teaching Collection is composed of around 600 teaching-grade specimens. Assistant professor Amanda Cheeseman is responsible for the curation of the mammal collection.
