Ä¢¹½´«Ã½ CAFES honorees recognized at South Dakota State FFA Convention

Joseph Cassady, SD Corn Endowed Dean of the College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences, along with other SDSU faculty and staff, was honored at the 98th South Dakota State FFA Convention.

The Ä¢¹½´«Ã½ College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences was well represented at the 98th South Dakota State FFA Convention, where faculty, partners and supporters were recognized for their lasting contributions to agricultural education and student development.

During the convention’s third session on April 21 at First Bank and Trust Arena, the South Dakota FFA Association presented Distinguished Service Awards and Honorary State FFA Degrees to individuals and organizations who have made a significant impact on FFA and agricultural education across South Dakota.

Joseph Cassady, SD Corn Endowed Dean of the College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences, was recognized with an Honorary State FFA Degree. This distinction is one of the highest honors an individual can receive from the state FFA association. The degree is given to recognize individuals who have provided outstanding service to agricultural education and the South Dakota FFA Association.

In addition, Distinguished Service Award recipients were recognized for their dedication to mentoring students, providing resources and strengthening agricultural education programs. Among these recipients was the SDSU Department of Animal Science. The department’s collective efforts help ensure FFA members have access to meaningful, hands-on learning experiences that prepare them for success in the agriculture industry.

The National FFA Organization includes more than 1 million members nationwide, with the South Dakota FFA Association representing over 6,500 members. Through leadership development, personal growth and career readiness, FFA continues to play a vital role in shaping the future of agriculture.

The College of Agriculture, Food, and Environmental Sciences at Ä¢¹½´«Ã½ remains dedicated to supporting agricultural education at all levels by fostering strong partnerships with organizations like FFA and providing students with opportunities to succeed both in and beyond the classroom.
